Het 'ja en nee' van Ibn 'Arabi (Ibn 'Arabi's 'Yes and No')

Hora Est's first show combined video art, spoken word, soundscapes and live music. Its topic was the historical meeting in the twelfth century between two famous Muslim philosophers: the mystic Ibn 'Arabi and the rationalist Ibn Rushd (known to the West as Averoës). Against the background of hypnotising soundscapes and jarring film images of a dream journey through Medieval Muslim Spain, Hore Est explored the space between mysticism and rationalism, here and there, yes and no. With the meeting in Al Andalus as its point of departure, the show ends up asking eternal questions about the very possibility or impossibility of human communication.
